DC Comics is making an all-women supervillain movie about Harley Quinn, Catwoman, and Poison Ivy by Selina Cheng

Less than six months after the summer release of Suicide Squad, director David Ayers is reuniting with star Margot Robbie for a spin-off, an all-female-villainess DC Comics blockbuster called Gotham City Sirens.

The plot of the upcoming Warner Bros and DC Comics production is based on the 2009 DC comic series of the same name. The story revolves around Gotham City’s most popular criminal females, which include Robbie’s character Harley Quinn—Joker’s part-time girlfriend and one of the best-received characters in Suicide Squad. Also featured is Batman’s love interest Catwoman, as well as Poison Ivy, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Warner Bros did not provide a release date.

Suicide Squad received scathing criticism, and rates just 26% among critics on Rotten Tomatoes. But the movie was a commercial success, grossing $745.6 million globally. A spin-off, and a sequel, were inevitable.
